Meet Ruth Babalola
I'm Ruth Babalola, a Specialist Teacher and SEN Assessor with over 10 years' experience supporting children and young people with special educational needs. My experience includes more than a decade in the academic support department of a leading UK independent school, where I lead on specialist assessment and exam access arrangements across the JCQ, IB, Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International frameworks, prepare files for JCQ inspections, and support US SAT accommodations.
I work with families and with organisations that serve children and young people, including churches, performing arts schools, tutoring centres and community groups, in person in the UK and online worldwide. Whether a child has a diagnosis of ADHD, dyslexia or autism, or simply seems to learn differently, my work starts with understanding, and ends with practical support that makes a real difference.
Beyond my practice, I serve as a trustee of Access to Shine, a UK registered charity that promotes the education of young people in the UK and in underserved communities in Nigeria, supporting school facilities, literacy programmes, teacher training and a sponsor a student scheme.
Qualifications & professional standing
Level 7 Diploma
in Teaching and Assessing Learners with Dyslexia/SpLD, Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity. The qualification level JCQ requires of specialist assessors.
Level 5 Diploma
in Teaching Learners with SpLD, Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity, plus Level 4 Certificate in Dyslexia Support, Dyslexia Action.
Current APC (PATOSS)
SASC-regulated Assessment Practising Certificate under the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (United Kingdom).
Executive Function Skills Coach
Trained with Dr Peg Dawson and Dr Richard Guare, leading specialists in executive function development in young people.
